Story

The Scarborough News has teamed up with Saint Catherine's to help raise an extra £11,000 this leap year to help fund an extra day of care. You can help by making a donation or by organising your own fundraising event in support of the campaign.

Saint Catherines provides care and support at home and in the hospice for adults with a terminal illness, and to their families, carers and friends. We serve communities across a 1,600 square mile area covering Scarborough, Whitby, Filey, Hunmanby, Ryedale, Bridlington and Driffield working with over 3,000 patients, families and carers each year.

All the care we provide is free of charge. Each year we need nearly £6 million to deliver all our services. Over 70% of this comes from the wonderful support and generosity of our local communities. We receive the other 30% of our money from the local health and social care commissioners and we are grateful for their ongoing support.

£20 pays for an in-patients meals and refreshments for one day

£200 pays for a patient to attend our Wellbeing Centre for one day

£500 pays for one In-Patient Unit bed for one day

£1,000 pays for our community nurse specialist team for one day

£5,000 pays for our hospice at home team for one day

£11,000 is the cost of providing all our care services for one day.

We will continue to be there to care and support you, your family, your carers and friends when you need us. Thank you.
