For various reasons, an eco dome is no longer realistic.

instead, the GBSA would like to work towards an outside shelter for Reception with a nature/environment element. This is affordable and achievable soon. It will enable them to be outside in all weathers, enjoying the fresh air. It will feature plants, both under the shelter and climbing up its sides.

ORIGINAL FUNDRAISING REQUEST BELOW

CALLING ON ALL Mothers, Fathers, Grandparents, Aunts, Uncles, Neighbours, Friends, Local Businesses, whomever, to help us build an Eco Dome at Great Bedwyn School.

At Great Bedwyn School, we are focused on learning outside the classroom as a way of supporting and enhancing students development. A glass geodesic dome would bring the outdoors indoors, providing a practical in-between space for activities across the curriculum.

If you need anymore convincing please keep reading -

1) The new dome will provide a unique educational setting which will stimulate creativity and bring learning to life outside of the traditional classroom

2) We want it to become a focal point at the school evoking excitement and wonder amongst the children

3) The space will focus on giving our children as many different hands on experiences as possible whilst developing lifelong knowledge and skills relating to the curriculum

4) There are unlimited potential uses - not only a place to discover science and nature, but it will provide a break-out space for a wide range of other activities whether that be reading, art, drama, mindfulness or even..... a magical Christmas Grotto!

5) The multi-functional space will be versatile, safe, eco-friendly, warm, long lasting and importantly full of natural daylight with 360 views

6) The school is also going to research how the dome can be used to support and bring the local community together

We are really excited about this initiative and believe it will truly enrich the children's day-to-day learning experience and become a valuable resource for the school. Please help to bring this project to life by donating or even just forwarding the link to this page to friends and family. The GBSA will also be running other fund raising events to support this project so we hope to seen you at one of those soon.

Thank you so much for taking the time to look at our plans. We are so excited about fundraising for an eco dome for our school. The £5,000 target is a little bit less than a quarter of the total sum that we need to raise to buy it, but we think its a bit more achievable doing it this way and we really hope that starting this will generate all sorts of inspiring and innovative additional fundraising projects. Please let us know if you have any ideas!

We will also be applying for funding from some more official bodies and we will keep you posted on what these are as we progress.

So, with lots of Bedwyns famous energy and passion, and a big dollop of luck, we will raise the amount needed to get an incredible eco dome at Great Bedwyn School. Thank you for getting us closer to our goal. If the goal isn't achieved the funds will be deployed for another purpose of huge benefit to the school however, we are pretty determined to and very much hope the above will be achieved. Thank you
