With a mixed bag of wether, there was lots of hiking through bogs, soggy tents and sections that challeneged all, yet, there were moments of sunshine, lots of laughs, self development and positivity to enjoy the stunning views, see many rainbows and feel thorughly luck to have this experaince and to beaible to raise awareness for the work Seaful does. Thank you to everyone who has donated, you kept us going, blisters and all!
and A team of four, including Seaful's founder and CEO Cal Major, COO Lorna Evans, and Trustees Zoe Satsias and Sam Sanger, will embark on a 10-day hiking journey along the Hebridean Way.
Their goal is to cover as much of the 252km route as possible to raise awareness and funds for Seaful.
Seaful is a UK charity that aims to encourage more individuals to feel connected to the ocean and blue spaces. By providing ocean connections through water experiences and education, Seaful hopes to inspire people to contribute to ocean protection.
With the ocean providing over 50% of the oxygen we breathe, it is crucial to prioritise the preservation of our ocean not only for our survival but also for the well-being of the planet.
Situated in the Northwest of Scotland, the Outer Hebrides is a remote island chain sitting within the wild Atlantic Ocean. The region's challenging terrain and famously unpredictable weather will certainly test the team's determination.
Over the course of 156 miles (252km) the route goes through 10 islands, crosses 6 causeways and includes two stunning ferry journeys. It is a route of astonishing variety and challenge – one day you may be walking on an exquisite deserted beach, with silver shell sand stretching far into the distance.
The next you may find yourself amongst wild mountains, wandering past remote freshwater lochs as eagles soar overhead.
Starting on island number 1 Vatersay and ending in Stornoway on island number 10 (Lewis), this is at times a challenging route. Some of terrain is as rugged as anywhere else in Scotland and the weather here in the Outer Hebrides is famously changeable – very often, you will experience all four seasons in one day.
