Eight Peaks for Independence. Helping fund accessible vehicles to those that need it most

Campaign by SEDCAT

I’m taking on the 8 Peaks Challenge—a gruelling trek across some of the toughest terrain in the UK. But while I’m climbing physical mountains, many people in our community face the challenges of limited accessibility that sedcat help overcome.

At SEDCAT, we believe that everyone in our community should have access to reliable and affordable transportation. Our charity provides safe and accessible transportation services to those who might otherwise struggle to get around, promoting social inclusion, independence and a sense of community.

Story

To conquer the 8 Peaks Challenge is to face some of the most unforgiving terrain in the UK. It requires grit, physical endurance, and the determination to keep moving when your lungs burn and the summit feels miles away. But as we tackle these eight formidable summits, we are reminded that for many in our community, the "peaks" they face are not made of rock and shale—they are the everyday barriers of mobility, isolation, and inaccessible infrastructure.

For a person living with a disability or age-related impairment, a simple trip to the GP, a local shop, or a friend’s house can be as daunting as any mountain. Navigating a world that wasn't built for your needs requires a level of resilience that rivals any hiker's. sedcat exists to be the "mountain guides" for these everyday journeys, providing the accessible transport and community support that turns an impossible climb into an achievable path.

By supporting this fundraiser, you are helping sedcat provide the vital lifelines—like the BAT Bus, Community Cars, and Shopmobility—that allow vulnerable people in South East Dorset to overcome their own "8 Peaks" every single day. Every step we take on the fells is a tribute to the independence and dignity of those who face much steeper challenges just to stay connected to their world.
