Serving Up Hope: A Tennis Fundraiser for Denise’s Promise

In July 2007, Denise had a vision—she dreamed of teaching tennis to children in the dust of Africa. Six months later she made that vision a reality, travelling to Uganda to coach tennis in schools across Kampala. But her journey led to something even greater.

While in Uganda, Denise met people who were dedicating their lives to supporting orphaned and underprivileged children. Deeply moved by their commitment, Denise knew she couldn’t walk away. She returned to the UK and founded Denise’s Promise, a small but mighty charity dedicated to transforming lives through education.

What Does Denise’s Promise Do?

🌍 Currently the charity pays teachers' salaries at the Abato School in Mpigi, Uganda, ensuring children receive a quality education. This school was founded by Moses Kalanzi in 2013 and at the beginning the charity was even funding the costs of making bricks The school has really grown over the years and provides education from 3 - 18 years old.

👦 Has sponsored 10 orphaned boys as they grew up giving them access to school, food, and a safe place to grow.

🎓 Has raised extra funds for the university fees of several children to give them the opportunity to find jobs to support them through their lives.

👞Collecting childrens’ clothes and shoes and sending out boxes at a time. She would always be grateful for school shoes that have been grown out of and childrens’ clothes.

Denise is going out to visit the school in April and she knows she will find even more projects within the school to support and she knows that with your help this will be done.

Denise has met many extremely poor children on her various trips out there and she really believes helping the children to be educated is the very best way forward.

Why Tennis?

Tennis was Denise’s way in - a sport she has played, competed at and coached all her life and this was used to connect her with children in Uganda and sparked hope. Now, we are using that same sport to give back.

This year, Denise's Promise is working with Cheam Common Junior, where they will be running a Tennis Fundraiser, where pupils will take part in exciting tournaments while raising money for this incredible cause.
