Story
About Us
The St Georges Hospital Boat Club and has been representing the medical school since 1839. We take part in various competitions across the calendar year including BUCS and HORR/WeHORR. The club also competes in the United Hospitals competition against other London medical schools.
Over the last 2 years we have raised over 4000 for SGH Charity, Hestia and Papyrus who are all charities that do valuable work around the local community – now we need to raise some money for ourselves!
Recent achievements
In 2024 our Novice men came first in their category at Cambridge, and the novice women were top of their category at Bumps. Our women’s fresher VIII came first in the United Hospitals 2022 Winter Regatta bringing lots of medals back to Tooting. A few of our finest women rowers and coxes represented UH at the 2022 Henley Women's Regatta and came top 20 in the academic VIII category and top 16 in the IV+. Not only this but our alumni women got blades in BUMPS 2022 - so you should be able to see their names up in the games room shortly. In 2021 we were fortunate enough to send a Men’s fresher IV+ to BUCS where they came 12th.
Why?
As most of you are aware, rowing at university is one of the most expensive societies to join. With your donation, it is ringfenced to spend on the boat club and help give back to the club you spent many years apart of. Some examples of where your funding will be spent are on emergency boat repairs, unisuits for freshers who cannot afford them, the cost of travel to outings and regattas and much much more!
Through this page you can make a one-time donation, or set up a monthly recurring donation. We are grateful for any support you can give!
