Story
Lebanon is suffering from an extended financial crisis for the third year in a row. The country's terrible economic and social conditions have placed a pall over the spirit of the holy month of Ramadan.
The Iftar table, formerly noted for its abundance of delicious cuisine and sweets, has altered dramatically. The most basic food products have become too expensive to purchase; this is a recurring statement we hear from people in Shatila, Tripoli, Nabaa, Bekaa, and everywhere we work.
Families in Lebanon, whether refugees, migrant workers, or citizens, will barely be able to afford one dish on their Iftar table during Ramadan. Even the Suhour table, famed for its modest yet delectable Levantine pantry products, has become prohibitively expensive.
We are launching a Ramadan fundraiser to deliver food baskets and cash assistance to 3,000 vulnerable families in Tripoli, Bekaa, Shatila camp, and the Nabaa area.
Our team on the ground is reporting on the situation across the different areas we work in, through the eyes of shopkeepers, who are in touch with the daily concerns of people trying to survive this challenging time, below is our first report cover the Nabaa and Burj Hammoud areas:
We invite you to join our fundraiser to share the blessings of Ramadan and support families living in Lebanon to meet their needs during these challenging times.
Every $50 donation will provide a family with a food basket and cash assistance to support them as they fast the holy month.
Support this campaign by donating or spreading the word. Every contribution counts.
