Story
An estimated 65,300 households across Sussex are living in fuel poverty this year.
The rising cost of living and soaring energy bills are forcing families to make heartbreaking choices between heating their homes, putting food on the table, or buying essentials like shoes and clothing.
A donation of £200 could keep a family warm for several weeks and provide respite from one of their many worries.
If you can, please consider sharing part or all of your Winter Fuel Payment to help families in Sussex facing impossible choices to stay warm, comfortable, and hopeful this winter.
When we met Emma and her family, they were struggling to keep warm. Their youngest daughter, Sophie, 6, lives with brittle bone disease making warmth vital for her comfort and health. With both parents caring full-time, heating costs had become overwhelming. Thanks to your Share the Warmth donations, we were able to top up their prepayment meter and help them make their home warmer and safer. “It means so much,” Sophie’s mum said. “Knowing the house is warm and safe takes such a weight off our minds. We can focus on Sophie instead of worrying about how we’ll pay the next bill.
