Dont let these dogs starve
as the shelter in Nafpaktos is CLOSED DOWN . They need YOUR HELP NOW . 100 dogs will now starve and many of these dogs pictured will be dead on the street this Christmas.
A few euros is all it takes to save a life but unless we act NOW there wont be any lives to save.
The Local Municipality Mayor in Nafpaktos has said to let all the dogs out .... These dogs cannot survive on the streets, they will be run over, shot, poisoned and hung as so many others are in Greece, hideous atrocities against animals are common. Many of them are not street dogs and don't know how to survive. Now the tourist season is ended there will be limited food to scavenge on the streets.
We just need help to buy some time to save these dogs and place them appropriately. Food is the main concern right now and the and most efficient and cheapest way is for them to get a good deal from a supplier in Greece.
For over 10 years several UK, Dutch and German Charities have been helping to rehome dogs from a private shelter in Nafpaktos, Greece. The shelter is a reputable and registered non profit making organisation run totally by a team of dedicated volunteers.
The local Municipality (Council) has a legal obligation to help provide food and medical care to the stray dog population and should run its own municipality shelters but in many areas these government shelters simply do not exist so the burden of caring for these poor unfortunate souls, many found sick and abandoned in dire need of medical attention is left to volunteers. They give their own money and huge amounts of their time to save the strays and a lucky few are rehomed to have a life that every dog deserves. We have rescued a number of dogs from the female volunteers who support these dogs and can testify to their commitment and care.
Just over 8 months ago, the Municipality of Nafpaktos stopped sending any money to support the strays. The volunteers have tried to raise money to support the feeding, neutering and medical care and attention these dogs require but now over 8000 Euros in debt and physically and psychologically burnt our they can no longer continue. There is no food and no money.
We are inviting anyone, individuals, volunteers, charities and organisations to help stop a catastrophic situation occurring here. There are several UK registered charities whose trustees are happy to be contacted to ascertain the reliability of this information and the integrity of the volunteers in Nafpaktos including Saving Saints Rescue UK and Greek Animal Rescue.
Please give whatever you can . We want to buy food and help with the costs of medical care while alternative placements and homes can be found every pound will help
Please share on every platform you have access to.
