We are holding a very special Sherwood Community Xmas Dash/Fun Day on Sunday 8th December to raise funds for a much needed new school minibus for Sherwood Park SEN School. Our special event is open to anyone who wants to take part to help raise funds. Xmas costumes are encouraged but not essential but there will

prizes! There will be other activities available for runners & non-runners to enjoy!

Story:

Friends of Sherwood Park School (FOSPS) is the parent and teacher fundraising group of Sherwood Park School, a SEN school based in Wallington. The school has 2 campuses, Sherwood Park, supporting students with profound and multiple learning disabilities, many of whom also have physical disabilities & Sherwood Hill, which specialises in supporting children with autism, many of whom have complex needs and severe learning disabilities.

The key focus of the school is to provide learning experiences that will develop the whole child/young person to be as independent as possible, gain skills and knowledge that will prepare them for adulthood and an enriching life.

At FOSPS, our aim is to raise extra funds to help ensure our children are given every opportunity to reach their full potential. We are currently fundraising for a new minibus. Many of our students are unable to access the community via public transport due to their physical disabilities and/or their learning disabilities. Our current minibus is frequently out of service preventing these valuable trips from happening. It is important our students access their local community to help gain valuable life skills and promote their independence. They also help to raise local awareness of our students, and so help to breakdown and challenge any assumptions or stereotypes that may exist.

Our students, their families & school staff are taking part in this special Sherwood Community Xmas Fun Run in Beddington Park. Please join us & help us achieve our goal of a new school minibus by supporting us. All donations are gratefully received, regardless of amount. This whole community event will give our special families the opportunity to have fun together and make memories that may otherwise be unachievable. We would love local people, family & friends to get involved & share the fun! Everybody is welcome
