Autumn Hedgehog Appeal

Autumn brings in lots of underweight hedgehogs not able to make it through to hibernation and beyond. Lack of food, injuries, illnesses and hoglets born in late summer who just haven't managed to get big enough for the colder months ahead.

Closes 30/11/2025

The Suffolk Hedgehog Hospital is a busy charity dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation and release of hedgehogs back into the wild as soon as they are healthy. It is run on a voluntary basis and is funded purely by donations, which allow us to provide important medical care, food and accommodation.

Story

Throughout the autumn months the hedgehog hospital will be supporting and rehabilitating hedgehogs who will arrive for various reasons - out in the day, underweight, dehydrated, injured, orphaned.

The hospital is run entirely on donations and your support is integral to our day to day operations. Throughout the summer months the hospital reached capacity however we continued to help if possible having over 100 hedgehogs in our care.

Each rescue and rehabilitation can cost over £100 after veterinary bills, medications, food and board are taken into consideration. Our aim is to rescue, rehabilitate and release as many hedgehogs as possible to help stabilise the hedgehog population which is currently listed as Near threatened on the International Union for Conservation of Nature’s (IUCN) Red List of Threatened Species.
