Story

Hi everyone!

On June 28th, I’ll be taking on a 52km ultra marathon in the stunning (but hilly!) Peak District, starting from Bakewell – all to raise funds for the Friends of the School.

This is a huge challenge for me, until November, running wasn’t something I did at all. My first run was only a few months ago, and now I’m training for a race that will push me further than I ever imagined. An ultra marathon is a tough feat for anyone, and I'm certainly finding it's a great test of perseverance and determination.

As part of our amazing FOJB group, we work hard to support the school with extra resources, activities, and events that make a real difference for the children. Every donation, big or small, will help us continue to fund exciting projects and experiences for the kids.

If you’d like to support me on this challenge and help raise vital funds, please donate whatever you can. I’ll be training hard (and probably questioning my life choices mid-race!), but knowing we’re making a difference will keep me going.

Thank you so much for your support! Please feel free to follow me on Strava to see how it's going! 🏅🎉

From the Headteacher, Ben Carver:

Everyone at John Blow Primary School wholeheartedly supports Shiv and her incredible fundraising efforts as part of Friends of John Blow Primary School. Her dedication to running an ultramarathon to raise funds for the school is truly inspiring and reflects the vital role that fundraising plays in enhancing the educational experience for our students.

The current financial climate presents significant challenges for schools, and without additional support, these financial constraints could have a negative impact on the learning opportunities available to our children. The funds raised through initiatives like Shiv’s will go directly toward enriching our curriculum, providing much-needed enhancements and activities that would otherwise be impossible to afford.

We are grateful for the support of our school community, and I encourage everyone to support Shiv in this remarkable endeavour. We wish her the very best of luck in completing such a challenging event, and we look forward to the positive impact her efforts will have on the learners at John Blow Primary School.
