A Quiet Haircut. A Big Step Forward
For many people, a haircut is routine.
For some people, including those with learning disabilities, autistic and neurodivergent people, or those with sensory sensitivities, a busy salon can feel overwhelming.
£25 helps subsidise a supported haircut through Mainstay DRP’s Pay It Forward Fund.
Silent Cuts is a sensory-aware hair salon in Downpatrick designed to provide a calm, supportive space. It supports people with learning disabilities, autistic and neurodivergent people, and anyone who prefers a quieter, sensory-friendly hairdressing experience.
Mainstay DRP established Silent Cuts to ensure people who struggle in traditional salon environments can still access haircuts with dignity and understanding.
For some people the journey may begin with familiarisation visits, gradually building comfort before a haircut takes place.
Through Mainstay DRP’s Pay It Forward Fund, community donations help subsidise supported appointments so access is based on need, not ability to pay.
A quiet haircut can be more than a haircut.
It can be a step towards confidence, independence and belonging.
If you believe everyone should have access to a haircut delivered with dignity and understanding, please consider paying it forward today.
