Four runners. Seven days. Over 260 kilometres. More than 17,000 metres of climbing. One incredible cause.

On 28 August 2026, four runners will take on an extraordinary challenge through the heart of the Alps: the Transalpine Run, raising vital funds for Ospreys in the Community’s Junior Wheelchair Rugby Team.

The challenge marks the beginning of Sinclair Defender – Beyond Ordinary, a new initiative built around adventure with purpose and supporting our communities through extraordinary challenges.

Together, they will take on one of the world’s most demanding multi-stage trail-running events.

Across seven days, the team will cover more than 260 kilometres of rugged Alpine terrain and over 17,000 metres of elevation gain – almost twice the height of Mount Everest from sea level.

This is no ordinary running event.

Long-distance endurance combines with relentless climbs, technical descents, unpredictable mountain weather and the challenge of getting back out there to do it all again the following day.

Across seven stages, Nicky, Daniel, Owen and Sam will need to dig deep physically and mentally, supporting each other through every climb, descent and difficult moment. By the time they cross the finish line, they will have covered the equivalent of more than six marathons, with over 17,000 metres of climbing along the way.

But there is a much bigger reason behind every kilometre.

Adventure with purpose

The team is taking on the Transalpine Run to raise money for Ospreys in the Community’s Junior Wheelchair Rugby Team, helping young people access wheelchair rugby and experience everything that being part of sport and a team can bring.

Junior Wheelchair Rugby is about far more than what happens on the court. It gives young people the opportunity to be active, develop physical skills, build confidence and independence, make friends and, importantly, feel part of a team.

Having access to the right equipment is essential – and can make the difference between being able to participate and being left on the sidelines.

That is why every donation matters.

Funds raised through the challenge will help support the continuation and development of Junior Wheelchair Rugby, including contributing towards a much-needed new specialist rugby wheelchair, alongside repairs and maintenance of the team’s existing chairs.

Specialist wheelchair rugby chairs are essential pieces of sporting equipment, but they are expensive and require ongoing maintenance and repairs. Your support can directly help keep young players on the court and ensure equipment doesn't become a barrier to participation.
