Help Us Row to Success: Support St Ives Rowing Club in Raising Funds for New Boats

Our small but mighty rowing club has been a cornerstone of the town for almost 160 years, nurturing young athletes and fostering a love for rowing in people of all ages. But now we urgently need new equipment to stay competitive, safe, and successful

St Ives Rowing Club is situated in an ancient market town on the river Great Ouse. Founded in 1865, we have a proud history of competitive rowing, producing some outstanding athletes on the national / international scene, plus a growing number of novice members and a thriving group of junior rowers.

Story

Dear Friends, Family, and Supporters,

We are reaching out to our amazing community to help propel St Ives Rowing Club forward. Our small but mighty rowing club has been a cornerstone of the town for years, nurturing young athletes and fostering a love for rowing in people of all ages. From early mornings on the water to competitive races across the region and even nationally, we are incredibly proud of what our club stands for and excited about a great many potential future opportunities.

But now, we need your support to take the next step. Our current fleet of rowing boats, while full of memories and miles, is not only becoming outdated, but is too heavy for many of our junior and female rowers to reach their competitive potential. These rowers are right at the heart of our club, especially our junior teams, who have been excelling in regional and national competitions, showing incredible promise. We believe they deserve equipment that matches their fantastic talent and drive — lighter and faster boats that will help them perform to their competitive best on the water. And with more boats added to our fleet, all of our members can have access to the right equipment, giving everyone the chance to row competitively and safely.

That’s why we’re launching a fundraising drive to help buy a newer, lighter 4/quad and - if we can raise sufficient funds - a more up to date 8 that will serve our rowers now and for years to come!

How You Can Help

Whether you’re able to donate, sponsor, or simply help spread the word, your contribution will make a huge difference. Our committee is entirely comprised of volunteers so we have no overheads, meaning that every penny raised will go directly towards purchasing new boats and ensuring the club continues to thrive for future generations of new members.

We're Earning Your Support

We’re not just asking for your help — we’re earning it! Our members have planned a series of fun and ambitious fundraising challenges, including:

* 24-hour Indoor Rowing Marathon: a huge team effort where our members will keep the rowing machines moving for 2x12 hours!

* Rowing Challenge Winter Kilometres: our athletes will attempt to row as far as they can throughout the winter, both indoors and on the water.

* Sponsorship Activities: club members are taking on personal challenges, from bake-offs to afternoon teas and other creative fundraising feats, to help reach our goal.

Let’s Build the Future Together

With your help, we can secure the equipment we need to stay competitive, safe, and successful. Your donation - no matter how big or small - will directly impact the lives of our young athletes, ensuring they have the tools they need to continue excelling and representing our community with pride.

Help us row to success! We’re excited about the future of St Ives Rowing Club, and with your support, we’ll be ready to make waves at every competition and beyond!

Thank you for being part of our journey.

With gratitude,
St Ives Rowing Club Committee & Rowers.
