We are the UK’s leading autism research charity. Our mission is to create breakthroughs that enable all autistic people to live happier, healthier, longer lives. We do this by funding research, shaping policy and working with autistic people to understand their needs.

Story

On 17th May 2025, Sir Christopher Ball will be celebrating turning 90 years old by running and walking 10k in Brathay, Cumbria.

Sir Christopher has been an important advocate and supporter of Autistica for several decades. Having turned 90 last month, Sir Christopher will be taking on this impressive challenge to raise funds for Autistica and 9 other charities.

Autistica is the UK’s leading autism research and campaigning charity, dedicated to improving the lives of autistic people through groundbreaking research, better services, and vital support. Every pound raised helps create a world where autistic people can thrive.

Sir Christopher has enjoyed a full working life and received a knighthood for his services to education in 1988. Upon retirement at the age of 70, he devoted himself to running, charity work, and poetry (writing as John Elinger). In his 70s, Sir Christopher founded and completed the notoriously gruelling 10 marathons in 10 days challenge, so he is no stranger to challenges few others would consider.

Every donation, big or small, helps us drive forward research, advocate for change, and support the autistic community. Thank you for your support!
