SJOG's Magic Pod
At SJOG we meet need where we find it. Our disability services support people to live as independent lives as possible.
We want to expand our ambitious use of technology to create bespoke sensory spaces for the people we support. Our current use of multi sensory environments aid concentration, encouraging positive participation and reduce anxiety and challenging behaviour. But we need funds to support this work.
Our next project will be a unique sensory space, Magic Pod, and this space will be located within the grounds of our autism service in North East. The space will be accessed by over 100 individuals in our surrounding services allowing us to widen our best practice approaches and enhance the quality of life of more people with sensory processing difficulties.
The Pod will help us to support people who experience sensory processing difficulties by helping them to understand sensory feedback effectively and in safe environments. It allows the person to safely explore their senses and develop coping and tolerance skills or desensitise themselves to certain situations that are crucial to their well-being.
By putting on their walking shoes, our team of hikers will be completing the Three Peaks Challenge to raise money so we can continue to provide and develop our sensory environments.
