Story
The delightful organ of Skinningrove Methodist Church in North Yorkshire faces being sent to the tip, or being dismembered by people who want to sell bits of it as souvenirs.
Instead, Pipe Up wants to save it so it can continue to be enjoyed for what it is: a worthwhile instrument from a top organ builder, to be played and heard by the public.
It's a two-manual organ made by the famous Durham firm of organ-builders, Nelsons, in 1910. Its front pipes are beautifully decorated. It has been regularly looked after.
We are now mounting an urgent operation to dismantle it carefully and take it to our secure storage space, while we find it a new home. £500 is the cost of the van hire and fuel we need. Everything else is volunteer effort.
Will you help us find this amount to save the Skinnigrove organ? You can see and hear it being played at: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7SDN16bZTqo
