Story
This summer, South London Refugee Association hopes to give local refugee, asylum-seeking and migrant families a much-needed day of fun, connection and respite during the school holidays.
Many of the families who attend our Community Hub and accessing our casework support are living with the daily stress and uncertainty caused by the UK's hostile immigration system. Alongside poverty, insecure housing and barriers to support, many parents and children experience isolation, anxiety and poor mental health. The pressures of everyday life can be overwhelming.
At SLRA, we provide immigration advice, casework support and community activities that help people navigate these challenges, access justice and build community. We recognise the importance of joy, rest and spending quality time together.
This summer, we want to organise a special day out for community members and their children. If we raise £600, we will take families on a trip to the zoo, giving children the chance to explore, learn and enjoy an exciting day out that many would otherwise miss. If we reach our stretch target of £1200, we will be able to organise our much-loved beach trip so that families can enjoy a full day by the sea.
For many of the families we support, outings like these are simply unaffordable. A day away from daily worries can have a profound impact, helping parents and children relax, connect and return feeling refreshed and hopeful.
Whether you help us reach our zoo target or our beach trip stretch target, your support will help create a joyful experience for families who deserve the opportunity to simply enjoy being together.
Thank you for helping us make this happen!!
