The UHDB Bariatric service is is 20 years old!
Almost three quarters of adults aged 45-74 in England are overweight or obese.
Obesity adversely affects peoples quality of life from mental health to mobility.
Obesity increases risks to health for example developing type 2 diabetes, coronary heart disease and some types of cancer.
Weight gain can occur for many different reasons and it is very difficult to manage, especially on your own.
This service is celebrating 20 years of helping and supporting people in the east midlands manage this chronic disease with medical and surgical intervention.
As part of our celebrations we would like to raise money to further support people in this service with training, equipment and resources.
We are aiming to achieve this by setting you all personal challenges so why not Smash it in September. (or cycle or dance or hop or swim we don’t mind what you do as long as it makes you feel good)
You choose the mode, you choose the distance but our theme is 20!
20 minutes, 20 days, 20 miles/ kilometres, 20,000 steps. You choose but tell us your story and share your challenge.
It is always easier to do this with friends so why not buddy up in your challenge - the more of you there are the bigger the challenge can be.
Everyone that takes part will receive a T shirt and on completion of their challenge a medal!
So lets Smash it in September and celebrate 20 years of us.
