Story
Fife’s sight loss charity, Seescape, has launched a Christmas fundraising appeal as it brings a year of activities and events to celebrate its landmark anniversary to a close.
The charity is running the appeal to boost their efforts to tackle loneliness and isolation associated with sight loss by meeting the cost of transport to their social groups.
Seescape runs four groups in Dunfermline, Kirkcaldy, Cupar and Glenrothes, which are often a lifeline for people who are socially isolated and lonely because of their sight loss.
The groups are managed by volunteers, who work together to decide on a programme of events, with a mix of entertainment, information sessions on things such as assistive technology or health, and group outings.
The charity spends around £8000 every year on transport to the groups for people who are unable to use public transport because they live in rural areas with limited public transport or their sight loss means they are unable to get a bus or train safely.
A donation could help Seescape pay for a taxi for a client to come to a group, help cover the costs of hiring a hall, or support the charity’s befriending volunteers.
