Story
Say SOCK IT! to Poverty and be part of our campaign to help us raise vital funds to continue our work across the borough.
We understand the pressures we are all under and that time is precious, so we have made the challenge as easy and fun as possible. All you need to do is grab a pair of your favourite, silliest, brightest socks and wear them to school, college, workplace, out for a walk, at your Yoga class or football practice and simply donate just £1 to The Brick. Join hundreds of school kids and businesses across the Wigan & Leigh borough in the fight to end poverty!
Join our Sock it! to Poverty campaign and all we ask if that for just ONE day, you encourage everyone in your school, college or workplace to wear their most brilliant, silliest socks and donate just £1.
Where does your £1 go?
With your amazing support, last year we were able to provide 19,135 beds in emergency access or supported accommodation, supported 531 people sleeping rough in this appalling, bitterly wintry weather via our Outreach team. We supported 694 homeless presentations and distributed 11,064 food parcels. In addition, we ensured that over 300 families got to eat a Christmas dinner and each child had at least one present to open on Christmas day.
Our community based Independent Living Mentors support people to gain and sustain tenancies breaking the cycle of homelessness and we continue to work with people at whatever stage they are, to realise their worth and potential. The whole of the Brick team are working tirelessly to reduce the impacts of homelessness and poverty and they work hard knowing that our community of donors is behind them. We would not be able to help them put food on the table if it were not for the kindness of our community.
Thank you for your support. Thank you for your generosity. Thank you for joining us in our fight to eradicate homelessness and poverty within our borough.
