Solar power for training centre

Campaign by Grace & Light

Our new training centre at our Jos headquarters is almost completed. Our next focus is generating our own energy with a solar electric system. We estimate this will cost 22m Niara (£12,000).

Story

Installing Solar Energy

Our new training centre at our Jos headquarters is almost completed. Our next focus is generating our own energy with a solar electric system.

This will give us a reliable and high quality supply and avoid the frequent and unpredictable cuts in grid electricity that Nigerians experience. Plus we will no longer need a polluting petrol generator for backup power.

Our system will include solar panels, inverters and a battery bank, controllers and switchgear, as well as site survey, systems design, permits and commissioning.

We estimate this will cost 22m Niara (£12,000). Being in the tropics with lots of sunshine, Nigeria has high generating capacity, reducing considerably the time it will take to recoup installation costs.
