As many of you will know, our Scout Hut next to Victory Hall has been our home since 1976, after our Group was set up in 1970. Originally an RAF canteen building dating from World War II, it has seen hundreds of local children pass under its roof – not just in Beavers, Cubs and Scouts, but Rainbow and Brownie Guides too, as well as playgroups.

Unfortunately, the building has now come to the end of its life, and it is no longer economical to repair it. So it is with sadness that we must have it demolished and a new Hut built in its place. To do this, we need to raise a significant amount of money, not only for the building itself but for planning consultancy and permission, internal fixtures and fittings, groundworks etc. We hope that a new, fit-for-purpose Hut will be used not only by the Scouts and Guides, but by other comunity groups as well.

We're aiming to fundraise for as long as it takes to cover the costs of the new building. But if for any reason we're unable to raise enough, donations will be used to provide Scouting for children in Somersham and other villages where there's currently no provision.

UPDATE 28/2/24: we've added in funds already raised through our participation at last year's Carnival, Christmas raffle, and the local school Christmas Fayre, plus some cash donations. We're already 1.5% of the way there!

UPDATE 6/3/24: we've been able to add another £248 raised through a Lucky Squares competition. Thank you all so much for your support!

UPDATE 12/7/24: we've added the donation of £475 received from the Somersham Carnival fund.

UPDATE 8/10/24: we've added funds raised recently at the Lake Fun Day, plus the generous donations from Frank's Ices and Somersham Angling Club.

UPDATE 8/11/24: we've added a generous donation from the Borneo Girls!
