Writhlington Trust, trading as Dragonfly Leisure is a not for profit charitable trust. We have no shareholders to pay and surplus income is reinvested directly into our centres to provide facilities that will encourage all ages to enjoy and participate in healthy and active lifestyles.

Story

Children's play is a fundamental right that nurtures children's happiness and wellbeing, equips them with social and emotional skills, builds their resilience and creativity, and helps them thrive. But, sadly today, more and more children lack time or space to play. Children spend an average of seven hours daily in front of electronic screens, such as television, tablets, laptops, and phones. Therefore, creating innovative and engaging active play areas is critical to tackling this ticking health and well-being time bomb!

We provide sports and leisure facilities for the whole community in the Somer Valley area. We want to improve outdoor play provision in Midsomer Norton by replacing old equipment in front of our leisure centre.

The project itself is going to cost between £100,000 - £120,000. Unfortunately, as a small independent charity, we don't have the means to fund this ourselves. For our Lottery application to succeed, we need to secure match funding of up to £40,000! We have been able to secure £30,000 from BANES Council via their CIL fund, leaving a remaining balance of circa £10,000, which is where you can hopefully help!
