Côr Meibion De Cymru is one of Wales' renowned male choirs. We are unique in being South Wales' only truly regional choir, championing Welsh culture and the male choir tradition.

Story

Bringing new life to the male voice choral tradition

Côr Meibion De Cymru (The South Wales Male Choir) is one of Wales’ renowned male choirs, but we are unique in being South Wales’ only regional choir and we even stretch across the Severn River into South Western England. Drawing on singers from Aberystwyth in the West to Gloucestershire and Wiltshire in the East, we rehearse weekly in three different locations and come together once a month for full choir rehearsal.

The locations of our concert performances in 2026 reflect the regional spread of our members and include Southampton, Llandeilo, St David’s Cathedral, The Royal College of Music and Drama in Cardiff, Newport, Cirencester and Chippenham.

The choir has a tradition of raising money for other charities and in May this year raised over £15,000 for Alzheimers by singing at ten band stands across South Wales in one day, covering Pembrokeshire to the City of Cardiff. We are also a charity ourselves and in early September two members of the choir will cross our region by bicycle, with the ambition of raising enough money to fund the creation of a brand new piece of male voice music to be added to our repertoire in in the Spring of 2027.
