Supporting over 2,000 small charitable groups working on the ground, our work touches 1 in 4 people in Norfolk – from those dependent on local practical and social support, to whole communities benefiting from improved buildings and green spaces.

Story

30th July would be Sophie Taylor's 10th birthday, having passed away in January 2019 after a brave battle with osteosarcoma, a type of bone cancer.

To mark the occasion, a sponsored 10km walk will be taking place on Saturday 29th July 9am-12pm, with participants dressed as superheros. Sophie's family will be taking part along with others.

You can get involved by either joining the walk, walking and collecting your own sponsors, sponsoring, donating and sharing this page.

All participants in the walk are responsible for themselves on the day. 9am meeting point is at Sprowston Infant School.

The funds raised will go towards the Sophie's Sparkle Fund, set up by Sophie's family and hosted by Norfolk Community Foundation, helping to support bone cancer research.

Recent donations made to research have enabled researchers to master essential coding and sequencing, fundamental for the research taking place to progress and continue. Members of the research team will be participating in the walk as well.

Through support from the Sophie's Sparkle Fund, the University of East Anglia has made significant breakthrough in creating a drug that can increase the survival chances of children like Sophie, but lack of funding inhibits the progress that can be made with regards to getting this drug to the point of reaching patients.

Any donation will be gratefully received and support future children so they do not have to suffer the same fate as Sophie.

Your support, whether it be taking part or donating, will help in the fight against bone cancer that Sophie started - and Sophie's family and friends continue in her name.
