Story
Say it loud, say it clear, refugees are welcome here!
It's easy to believe from media reports that we are no longer a country that wants to offer sanctuary to people fleeing danger. But we know that isn't true. Week after week, year after year, our supporters continue to donate, sort and share clothing and other essentials with asylum seekers and refugees. We give what we can when we can: time, money, donations of goods, expertise in sorting or running events, or simple moral support which shows that among the people of Southampton, hate does not win.
This campaign is about the cash that keeps our wheels turning. With no paid staff, we rely on the goodwill of our volunteers to donate and sort goods and to run our events, but there are always things we simply can't provide from second-hand donations alone. For example we always need additional toiletries, new underwear for reasons of dignity and hygiene, and shoes in the correct sizes.
Every single individual donation, big or small, makes a difference. Please donate what you can afford today.
Or, why not help us by setting up a fundraising event through this page? If you need any support to do this, please email us at catherine@southamptonaction.org
