Every year in the Autumn, we receive amazing support from local schools, churches, and individuals who donate food to help restore our stock levels ahead of the cold months of the year.
This year, due to COVID-19, we will be doing Harvest a little bit differently. We are encouraging our supporters to donate Funds For Food instead of physical items.
Why Funds For Food instead of physical food items?
This is to stay in line with guidelines on keeping safe and observing physical distancing, as well as helping the foodbank to get supplies of exactly what we need.
We will use the funds to keep our delivery service going and to restock items we need by buying items from local partner supermarkets in bulk. This helps us keep the full range of the items needs for each parcel and stops us running out of particular items or having too much of other items.
We are encouraging people to donate funds online just as you usually might during Harvest, donating the cost of what food you might usually bring to a school or meeting. The big positive of donating online is that you can easily Gift Aid your donation to make it go even further. We encourage everyone to Gift Aid their donation if possible, no matter how small, every little bit counts!
From the start of April, we moved to delivering food parcels to people. In April of this year, we saw a 400% increase in foodbank usage as compared to last year.
We anticipate the next few months will continue to be a challenge for local people and are so grateful for the ongoing support we receive.
Your donation will help us to keep our essential service going and keep our vans delivering and warehouse stocked with necessary items.
Thank you for your support!
