LOCAL families are finding the cost of living very challenging!
At Christmas time, and Lent last year, we appealed to you, so that we could obtain Supermarket food vouchers to be distributed to local families. Thank you for that support; it helped many families. We start with the families identified by our Primary schools and SVP; we include refugee families and those mentioned by parishioners. We would like to give £ 60 to each family. Your generosity through past appeals has been greatly appreciated by families in our parishes.
The House of Light and Hope is looking after the needs of young people involved in delinquency and drug addiction; some are homeless, sometimes illiterate, sexually exploited and often victims of poverty and violence. It annually serves hundreds of boys and girls throughout Lebanon without discrimination of race, colour, or religion.
We have supported Dr Caracache and house of light and hope for many years. A recent prayer request said “With the war in Gaza, Lebanon is living through critical hours. Daily bombardments between Israel and the pro-Iranian Lebanese Hezbollah have forced the inhabitants of border villages in southern Lebanon to flee to safer regions in the north of the country and to the capital Beirut. We live in fear of a generalization of this conflict, which would drag Lebanon into a situation similar to that of Gaza.”
So let us pray to the Lord to spare Lebanon from this worst-case scenario, and above all for His mercy for all the victims of the Gaza war, and for His peace to reign in the region.
