St Peter's - more cricket, for more people, more often.
Please help St Peter's Cricket Club invest in our facilities so that we can better serve the community and continue to support people of all ages to participate in cricket. Donations to our Annual Fund will help us maintain and develop cricket facilities in Preston Park Brighton.
We have planning permission to redevelop our aging clubhouse. With your suppport our ambition is to turn our aging clubhouse into a year-round fully accessible venue for the cricket club and wider community.
About us
St Peter's Cricket Club was founded in 1883 and is the oldest surviving cricket club in the city of Brighton and Hove. The club has played at the historic Preston Park Velodrome since 1889, one of the finest urban sporting locations in Sussex that comprises two cricket squares, recently developed practice nets and the cricket clubhouse. It is the oldest velodrome in the UK having been opened in 1877.
We have a growing community of 450 players of all levels of skill and interest. We run 6 mens teams in the Sussex County League, a Sunday side, Girls & Womens teams and Colts teams covering all ages from under 9 to under 16.
Clubhouse Redevelopment Project
We are fundraising to rebuild our antiquated clubhouse so that we can create a purpose-built facility for our thriving club, and as a hub for the whole local community.
Our clubhouse is used widely by other groups during the summer, regularly by cycle clubs and for cycling events as well as for activity such as Pilates. During the COVID pandemic it was the base for the local foodbank. However, the existing building is over 130 years old and is no longer fit for purpose. It is simply too small to accommodate an extensive and growing membership and is not accessible to people with disabilities. It is underused outside the cricket season and can be mistaken for an empty and obsolescent building.
We received planning consent in October 2021 and the whole club is now embarking on the challenge of raising the funds to build it.
