Story
Our vision is a world where people with learning disabilities have the same rights, choice and control over their lives as everyone else.
Speak Out has been an independent advocacy charity in Brighton and Hove since 1994. We make sure that people with learning disabilities can speak up and take action about the things that matter to them.
Our work gives a voice to one of the most marginalised and vulnerable groups in society, enabling them to express their views, have control over their lives and find solutions to problems and discrimination they face.
As with many other charities, we rely on donations from people like you to help support the work we do and ensure we can keep helping and raise the voices of people with learning disabilities. Any donation you can give will make a huge impact and would be hugely appreciated.
£5 could pay for refreshments for 20 people at a drop-in session where they can get peer support, advocacy and information.
£10 could pay for transport for 2 people to get to one of our group sessions- where they can get to have their say.
£35 could provide an hour of professional advocacy for a person with a learning disability.
'If I didn't have Speak Out, I'd feel lonely. It's helped me to meet other people, it helps me when I'm feeling low.'
