In Kenya, the State provides free education, but the children in the slums often cannot benefit from this. There are very few state schools in the slums, and the cost of a school uniform, school meals, and many other extras, create a barrier which is too high for the poorest people.
Our mission is to provide a first-class education for the very deprived children in the Nairobi slums, covering all levels from primary school through college or university. Our aim is for these children to break the poverty cycle and become established and productive citizens.
We adopt a two-part approach
The first is to sponsor children in schools that provide the education and the pastoral care they need.
The second is to take on projects to create a better learning environment for our students and others in the community, e.g. building classrooms, setting up labs and libraries and providing computer equipment. We work closely with our own Kenyan staff and trusted Kenyan partners who help us get the best out of every investment to maximise the potential of each child.
