Creating a Collection of Sporting Art for the Nation

The British Sporting Art Trust are fundraising to build our collection. We are wanting to purchase a set of 12 sporting prints by Wenceslas Hollar after Barlow. Francis Barlow is considered by many as the father of Sporting Art.

We promote and preserve the long tradition of sporting art in this country. We are enthusiasts about all aspects of sporting art from the traditional rural sports to modern-day team sports, from fine art to decorative work, from George Stubbs to Sir Alfred Munnings.

Story

The British Sporting Art Trust aim is to create of a representative collection of British sporting art. The Barlow prints will significantly improve our representation of early sports and prints. In the past few years we have been successful in donating through our charity, 40 works to Tate Gallery. We also have also collected over 400 works of art which form the foundations of the displays in the Fred Packard galleries of sporting art in the National Horseracing Museum in Newmarket. We are enthusiastic about all aspects of sporting art from the traditional rural sports to modern-day team sports, from fine art to decorative work, from painting to photography from the 16th century to the contemporary, from the well-known artists such as George Stubbs and Sir Alfred Munnings to the lesser known
