Story
Spring Sunrise Pen Y Fan 2026 is a spectacular fundraising event that will bring people together to celebrate new beginnings while supporting dogs in need. Taking place on the Spring Equinox weekend, it’s the perfect way to welcome longer days, brighter mornings, and the changing of the seasons with a sunrise hike to the summit of Pen y Fan. As dawn breaks over the Brecon Beacons, participants will experience an unforgettable moment while helping to change the lives of vulnerable dogs across South Wales.
This event proudly supports Hope Rescue, the leading dog welfare charity in South Wales. Since 2005, Hope Rescue has saved the lives of thousands of stray, abandoned, and unwanted dogs, giving them a second chance from their dedicated rescue centre in Rhondda Cynon Taf. The charity works tirelessly with Local Authorities across South Wales, committing to take in all stray dogs from six local authority areas, regardless of age, breed, or medical condition. This includes dogs seized from low-welfare or illegal breeders, ensuring help is available to those who need it most.
Hope Rescue carefully assesses and rehabilitates every dog in its care, preparing them for a happy future in the right forever home. The charity also supports pet owners in crisis who need to rehome their dogs, offers advice on responsible dog ownership, and actively campaigns for improvements in animal welfare legislation and enforcement.
By taking part in Spring Sunrise Pen Y Fan 2026, you’ll be helping Hope Rescue continue its vital work, while marking the arrival of spring with purpose, hope, and compassion one step at a time.
