The biggest job of all will be the transformation of the well, which we hope to take down to floor level and glass over, adding lights and providing a great deal of extra space. We can't wait to keep you updated with progress.
Converted from a fruit warehouse in the 1980's, The Warehouse Theatre is Ilminster's hidden theatrical gem. Owned and run by Ilminster Entertainments Society (IES) a registered charity, the Warehouse seats 150 in a fully raked auditorium with wheelchair access, boasts professional standard lighting and is known as one of the most charming theatres in Somerset.
IES presents multiple productions a year aiming to give a varied programme from comedies to dramatic thrillers, one act plays to the family favourite Christmas pantomimes.
IES also supports a busy Youth Theatre group encouraging future generations of theatre lovers, as well as hosting professional touring performers and other local groups, giving Ilminster year round entertainment.
The bar area is our current project and is in need of repainting and modernising. The IES volunteers are hoping to carry out this work themselves, as well as making a feature of the old well and creating a new snug seating area to make the bar a welcoming and cosy place to be, both before, during and after shows.
