We are creating an opportunity for ALL people in our community to have some wonderful experiences this summer!
We will be dedicating the funds we raise from our team's participation in the 2025 Glasgow Kiltwalk to crafting and facilitating the Summer of Fun, ensuring everyone can make the most out of the (hopefully!) warm weather and summer holidays.
We fight 7 days a week against symptoms of poverty through our key themes of Eating, Exercise, Education, and Empowerment. However, many people still face financial and social barriers to improved quality of life. We also know that the school summer holidays can be tough, with family budgets stretched when the schools are off. Uplifting the community also means helping people just HAVE FUN!
This programme will range from Day Trips Out, a community sports day, Picnic Lunches, BBQs, Afternoon Tea, Yoga at the Farm, and many more creative and athletic activities for anyone to take part in.
Your £20 donation is a child’s first visit to the zoo. Donating £10 could give someone their first trip out to the beach in years. A £5 donation is lunch at a picnic in the park for a busy mum, providing a much needed opportunity for socialising. Any support you can give will make a REAL difference to members of our community.
SPYF hosts programmes that provide opportunities to learn and develop in a safe, fun and inclusive environment for over 1000 people a week at our facilities and over 1000 more through community outreach. Photos included in the gallery showcase some of the things we do, from Youth Summer Clubs to Bingo Night to our community-wide Christmas Fair.
Our youthwork team run a packed programme of activities for local children and young people from busy weekly drop in sessions, residentials, girls groups and boys groups, and workshops in local schools to international exchanges, a youth café, radio workshops and volunteering opportunities.
On Bikes distributes bicycles throughout the community to improve freedom of travel and encourage movement. The team provides repairs and technical training to teach employability and skills development. Collaboration with HMP Barlinnie provides inmates with meaningful work that increases employability. This project also encourages sustainability, as the repairs divert many tons of waste from landfills.
Blackhill’s Growing brings our community together through growing, cooking, and sharing good food. Our veg barra, community meals, and community pantry supports a dignified approach to tackling food insecurity.
Courses and clubs at the Molendinar Community Centre include housing and financial literacy, fitness and well-being in our Dance Studio and Gym, and healthy cooking and eating in our Café facility.
