Help Fund a Drone for Staffordshire Search And Rescue to Save Lives

We are Staffordshire Search & Rescue Team, a volunteer emergency service. We need your help to fund a drone that will speed up searches, keep our team safe, and save lives across Staffordshire.

Welcome to Staffordshire's Lowland Search & Rescue Team, working in partnership with Staffordshire Police, West Midlands Ambulance Service, Staffordshire Fire and Rescue and Staffordshire Civil Contingencies Unit. We are Staffordshire's only approved volunteer lowland search & rescue team; with specialist training in locating and rescuing missing people in urban and rural lowland areas. Staffordshire Lowland Search & Rescue Team (SSART) is a highly skilled team of dedicated volunteers who give up a lot of their own valuable time to provide a service to the emergency services in the upmost professional manner. Although based primarily in Staffordshire, SSART often venture outside of the county to assist neighbouring Lowland Rescue teams on callouts. We also provide fully equipped 4x4 vehicles to assist with evacuation, recovery & logistics during adverse weather wherever we may be required. The team is funded entirely through donations from the public and local businesses, so when we are not on a call out or training, we are kept busy raising essential funds throughout the year to keeping the team operationa

Story

Who We Are

Staffordshire Search & Rescue Team is a volunteer-run, 24/7 emergency resource that works alongside the police and emergency services to find missing and vulnerable people.

Why We Need a Drone

When someone goes missing, time is critical. Drones allow us to cover vast areas quickly, search dangerous or inaccessible locations, and use thermal imaging to spot people even in darkness. This equipment will directly save lives and reduce risks for our volunteers.

The establishment of a dedicated drone team will be a vital additional resource for missing person searches and vulnerable individual recovery.

We have seen how search & rescue drone teams elsewhere have saved lives. It’s now time to bring that capability into Staffordshire.

The Impact of Your Support

A drone can search areas in minutes that would take hours on foot.

- It helps keep our volunteers safe by reducing exposure to hazards.

- It provides comfort to families, knowing every tool possible is being used to find their loved one.

“Every search is a race against time. Having a drone means we can respond faster and bring families hope when it’s needed most.” — Mike Drone lead
