Story
St. Chad’s, built in 1876 by Joseph Paget, is in desperate need of stabilisation and restoration (refer to link for more historical information). https://southwellchurches.nottingham.ac.uk/pleasley-vale/hintro.php
The inside of the building is clad in wood and unfortunately has an infestation of woodworm, mainly in the floor, making it potentially unsafe. The roof is also in need of extensive work and there is rot in some of the interior wood. The building will also need re-pointing.
The plan is for the building to be stabilised and restored. It will then be able to operate as a community space run by a locally based community charity. This will ensure its survival as a precious community asset into the future.
Work has already begun with a great deal of roof work on this gothic design church. We now have a UK church restoration specialist advising and working with us, but funds are desperately needed to carry out these important first phase works to stabilise the structure and enable us to open St Chad’s again. A great deal of further restoration is then needed to fully restore St Chad’s over time.
