St. Andrew's church dates from 1170. The turret clock was donated to the church and the parish of Collingbourne Ducis in 1871 by Eliza Buckerfield. The church lies in the heart of the village on relatively high ground and its tower can be seen by residents. Furthermore, it sits besides the A338 road and approaching the church from the east offers an ideal opportunity to admire the tower and the clock. The absence of chimes denoting the time have been greatly missed and commented on by many residents in the village. The broken clock, stuck at 3.40 since September 2019 and the deteriorating clock face create a false impression that the church is uncared for. In contrast a working clock with a cleaned and re-gilded clock face will give a renewed and encouraging impression. And it will be wonderful to hear those chimes again!
