Story

Welcome to St Andrews Sports Club! Take part in our regular community challenges, or set your own goals.

Virtual fitness challenges have become very popular over the course of the corona virus outbreak. Cycling is widely acknowledged as one of the best forms of exercise to practice social distancing. So, we wanted to start our fitness fundraising campaign by encouraging people to get back on their bike and enjoy the local scenery this summer!

This September and October ride for us and help raise funds for your local hospice. There's no minimum distance or qualifying miles required for the individual challenge: through just setting yourself a personal physical goal you can have a real impact on someones life during an exceptionally difficult time.

By taking part in this virtual event you can help us to continue to be there for patients and their families when they turn to us for help. Without your kindness we simply would not exist. For a minimum donation of £25.00, each participant that completes the above challenge will receive a unique digital certificate and commemorative medal. Additional medals for families can also be obtained for a further donation of £12.50 per medal.

You might like to log each ride on Strava and share with other participants. You can also link it to your Just Giving page (Here's How..) and share your progress via Facebook etc., tagging the St. Andrews Facebook Page, helping us to raise awareness and encouraging others to take part too.

Whatever your age and abilities, tailor your challenge to suit you, your family and your friends. Push those boundaries, and explore places you've never even visited!

Megan & Amy did exactly that. Read their story:

On the 4th June at 10am we set off from Bradford Avenue Cleethorpes in hope of biking our set goal of 26.2 miles (a marathon) to raise as much money as possible for St. Andrews Hospice. We were presented with challenges such as wind, rain and 12km into our ride Megan got a puncture! After a quick tyre repair thanks to Megan's dad we set back off straight away to complete our goal! Our route was through various local villages and towns. In the end we completed a distance of 56km which is more than we had set out to. We've managed to raise £300 so far from our £200 goal and we've had incredible support from friends and family across the country! We chose to raise money for St. Andrews because as well as it being a local charity, we also know how much hard work their staff put in to help everyone that needs it. Therefore, we wanted to help as much as we could in these hard times. We really hope this will encourage more people to take part in activities to help raise money for charities that need support!

Once you have created your fundraising page, full details on how to participate will be sent by email. Please look out for our future community challenges.

If you are a business, group or sports club who likes to take part in local challenges, were looking for teams of all abilities to join our October event in partnership with Ultimate Packaging! The Ultimate Challenge is part of our St. Andrews Sports Club fundraising Campaign where teams compete to ride the highest average mileage and win the new St. Andrews Challenge Trophy. There is a slight caveat to the competition though, just to level the playing field so to speak.
