Breakthrough science is what we are about at Fight for Sight. We support promising research so that life-changing, innovative treatments can be developed further down the line.
If we were not funding the early stages of discovery, none of the later incredible advances would happen.
That is why in the run up to Christmas we want to celebrate one of our scientists who is on the brink of a major breakthrough in eye health. Professor Heping Xu has dedicated the last 10 years to a ground breaking study on age-related macular degeneration, the most common cause of severe sight loss in the UK. His extraordinary success is thanks to people like you.
His crucial findings about macular scarring in the 'wet' form of age-related macular degeneration are now progressing to clinical trials. From there is it a hugely important step to cutting-edge new treatments and better outcomes for people with the condition.
It is the pinnacle every researcher strives for, and incredibly rewarding for us, to see the work we all believed in, reach this point.
Set up your fundraising page and lets step into Christmas together. Your support could be life-changing.
