This May, the One For Fun team is taking on a mighty 20 million steps challenge to raise vital funds for Starlight.

Together, we’re aiming to walk an incredible 20 million steps across the month — a symbolic target that reflects the nearly 20 million child hospital admissions and attendances each year. For many of these children, hospital can be a frightening place. Instead of playing and having fun, they’re suddenly faced with painful and overwhelming treatments. For parents, watching their child go through this is heartbreaking.

But in partnership with Starlight, we’re helping to change that. By putting play at the heart of children’s healthcare, Starlight helps children relax, prepares them for medical procedures, reduces pain and trauma, and improves health outcomes.

We’re taking on this challenge because we believe in the power of play to transform children’s healthcare — giving children the chance to smile, to cope, and to simply be children, even when the world around them feels frightening.
