Story
Crowned by the English Hierarchy, by permission of Pope Pius IX, as the national Shrine of St Joseph, the shrine was transferred to the Benedictine monks of Farnborough ten years ago. Earlier this year, through the kindness of JustGiving donations, the splendid crowns were restored to their former glory. As the number of pilgrims increase, the monks now ask your help for the next phase in the Shrine's development. They wish to buy and install a low grille to separate the shrine altar from the main sanctuary. This will give closer access for pilgrims to the statue and allow small groups to celebrate Mass at the Shrine altar, whilst preserving the splendid marble sanctuary and the monastic enclosure. The Abbey Church is Grade One Listed, but a suitable grille has been secured, pictures of which are below. We ask you to be generous. Even the smallest amounts will ensure this worthy improvement to St Joseph's Shrine.
