2020 was a very difficult year for our small church. Covid-19 forced the cancellation of services and of all our annual fundraising events which keep us on a firm financial footing.

St Mark's Church is over 120 years old and as such, the building requires a lot of TLC. During 2019 we had undertaken urgent repairs to the roof with the intention to then repair and redecorate the interior ceiling. When the decorators got the scaffolding up and were able to have a close look at the ceiling, it was clear it was a much bigger and more expensive job than any of us had realised. In some parts of the church, large patches of plaster were hanging on by a thread! To make the ceiling safe, we have had to replaster over 60% of the ceiling before redecorating it.
