The Choral and Organ Scholarship Program at St Mary's has been running for two years and donations from the local community have played an integral role in both launching and sustaining the project to date.

As a result of the community's investment, St Mary's has been able to introduce children, teenagers and their families to God, provide life-long musical inspiration and education, and improve the outcomes of local children and young people: our scholars have gone on to receive scholarships to Cambridge University (bass and organ) and Durham University (bass), and places at Trinity Laban Conservatoire (tenor and soprano).

St Mary's has now received national recognition for the project and was recently awarded the Church Choir Award (one of only six churches in the UK to do so). The award was made by The Cathedral Music Trust and Royal School of Church Music in recognition of musical excellence, our work with children and young people, and innovation.
