When You Wish Upon A Star is a small charity dedicated to granting the wishes of children between the ages of 4-16 living with life threatening illnesses. Since 1990 we have granted over 18,500 magical Wishes, creating precious memories and transforming the lives of the children we work with. Our Wishes aim to give children and their families something to look forward to through times of uncertainty and often financial as well as emotional strain. By allowing the families to take their focus away from illness and hospital visits, they are able to have fun and create precious memories together, whatever the future may hold.

Alongside granting these special Wishes that are tailored to each child, we also organise treat days. These days out mean we are able to work alongside local childrens hospitals to take groups of children on magical days out, giving them the chance to make memories with their families as well as meeting other children who have similar life experiences. One of our most renowned and long running treats is our annual flight to Lapland. Each year in the run up to Christmas, we take a flight full of children directly to Lapland for a day of magic and laughter. Stockport has been the home of our North West office for the last 25 years and throughout these years we have ran a number of these flights from Manchester airport, taking hundreds of local children along with us to make some once in a lifetime memories with their families
