Story
Why we need your support this winter
Winter is when families feel the pressure most intensely. Higher energy bills, food prices that continue to rise, school holidays, and reduced seasonal hours all collide. For many people we support, December and January become the most difficult months of their year.
Glasgow SE Foodbank is seeing more households reaching crisis point earlier. Parents arriving hungry because they’ve given the last of the food to their children. Older people trying to heat only one room. People who managed to cope last winter now finding themselves unable to manage.
We are doing everything we can — but we cannot sustain this work without help from the community.
Introducing our £30 Christmas Dinner Challenge
This year we’re asking supporters, if they’re able, to take part in Glasgow SE Foodbank’s £30 Christmas Dinner Challenge.
If you can spare £30, you can help us provide the basics for a family who otherwise may not be able to put a meal on the table this Christmas.
It’s a simple idea:
£30 helps us support a household facing food insecurity
£60 supports two families
£120 supports four families
Any amount, large or small, genuinely makes a difference.
This challenge is optional — you can donate any amount you choose — but it provides a clear, practical way to support local families when they need it most.
What your donation provides
Your donation helps us provide:
* Emergency food parcels
* Warm clothing and winter items
* Hygiene products and household essentials
* Support, advice and onward referrals
* A warm, safe, confidential space where people are treated with dignity
These are not luxuries. They are essentials that keep families afloat through winter - though we are also providing limited numbers of Festive items like presents for children, boxes of mince pies, etc.
Why your support matters now
Demand is already increasing. Our supplies are stretched. Winter is only just beginning.
Your donation today will help us:
* Respond quickly to urgent referrals
* Keep essential supplies stocked
* Support families through the school holidays
* Provide warmth, food and dignity when people need us most
Please donate if you can
If you’re able to support this appeal, your gift — whether it’s £10, £20, £30 or more — will make a direct difference to local families this winter.
Thank you for helping us support our community.
