Story
Pre pandemic three of our Volunteers had registered to take part in The Belfast Marathon Walk, in May 2020. Derek, Robin and Hugh are now able to complete their task at the Re-Scheduled Belfast City Marathon Event on 3rd October 2021. Under the name of 'NDA Food Bank' they are seeking sponsorship for their efforts with all proceedings going to Store House to help meet the needs to cover costs of rent, consumables and stock shortages. 'EVERY GIFT MAKES A DIFFERENCE'. North Down Community Network are facilitating the JustGiving process but 100% of sponsorship goes to Storehouse North Down.
What we do: Storehouse North Down partner with many different charities and agencies throughout our local communities who are working day in day out with families and individuals in difficult situations. Through these partnerships we get connected to those most genuinely in need. Often, through no fault of their own, or through poor choices, those that we work with find themselves caught in cycles of poverty that seem impossible to break. By partnering with established and skilled charities and bodies Storehouse North Down is able to provide opportunities for long term solutions that see lives changed and not just short term aid. We work hard with our partners to help people move away from the need of support and to prevent dependency. Having plenty of food in the cupboards is something we can easily take for granted. But what would happen if your salary stopped? You might last a few weeks, maybe a few months - but then where would you turn? For many people in our communities there is no answer. Thousands live close to or at the edge of their finances. For many simply getting by is a struggle. So when personal crisis hits - like redundancy, illness, homelessness, separation - finding the next meal can be virtually impossible. Storehouse North Down exists, as a charity, to be a real answer for those families and individuals who have no safety net.
