The campaign has now expired but it's not too late to support this charity.
Visit the charity's profileSt Patrick's Mission Church in Bradford dates from 1853. It is a Grade II Listed Building and now the oldest Catholic place of worship in Bradford. It re-opened on 5th October 2019 following a major programme of restoration and refurbishment.
An important part of this redevelopment is the plan to recreate part of a hugely impressive World War 1 memorial from the former St Mary's Church, East Parade which closed in 2006.
While it has not been possible to remove all of the memorial from St Mary's for structural reasons, it is possible to relocate the Pieta statue that formed part of the original memorial to St Patrick's Church.
Some minor repairs will be necessary to make the statue ready for installation in St Patrick's and whilst the wall panels at St Mary's inscribed with names of the war dead can't be moved, it is planned to reproduce the list of 250 names as part of this project at St Patrick's.
The total cost is estimated at £20,000. The aim of the project is to re-erect this War Memorial in St Patricks Mission Church for Remembrance Sunday 2020, to mark the centenary of its original installation and blessing at St Mary's by the Bishop of Leeds in 1920.
Your support would help to realise these plans and honour those men of Bradford who gave their lives in the Great War. At the same time it would help to preserve part of the citys heritage that might otherwise be lost to future generations.
